NEW RELEASES: Among this week's biggest releases is Ubisoft's (UBSFY) open-world shooter "Far Cry 6," which launches October 7 for PC, PlayStation 4 (SONY), PS5, Xbox One (MSFT), Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna (AMZN), and Google Stadia (GOOGL). Also out this week is Nintendo's (NTDOY) action-adventure title "Metroid Dread," which launches exclusively on Switch consoles October 8. Meanwhile, Sega's (SGAMY) "Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania," a compilation of enhanced remakes of previous "Monkey Ball" games, comes out October 5 on PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

EA EXECS: Last Thursday, Electronic Arts (EA) chairman and CEO Andrew Wilson announced the appointment of Laura Miele, who "successfully led" EA studios as the company's COO. Blake Jorgensen, EA's COO and CFO, will begin a process to transition from EA, culminating in his departure next summer, the CEO said. Wilson also noted that Chris Bruzzo will become chief experience officer, leading the company's efforts to "build social ecosystems that forge stronger connections and create amazing player experiences" in EA games. Mala Singh will remain as chief people officer, Ken Moss will continue as CTO, and Jake Schatz will saty as chief legal officer. "Through our time working together, Blake has been an incredible partner, advisor, and dear friend," Wilson said. "His expertise and the team he has built have been instrumental to our growth and financial achievements, and his leadership has set us on the successful path we are on today. The internal and external search for a new CFO will begin immediately, working closely with Blake, and he will help us with the transition and onboarding when a new CFO is appointed. Thank you, Blake, for everything you've done and continue to do for our company."

4K SWITCH DENIAL: Last Wednesday, Bloomberg reported that employees at at 11 video game developers had said their teams were in possessions of Nintendo's 4K development kit for the Switch, whose currently available models do nut support high-fidelity, 4K graphics. The companies, which span the whole world and range from large publishers to smaller developers, include Zynga (ZNGA), which has never developed a console video game before, according to Bloomberg's Takashi Mochizuki and Olga Kharif.

Nintendo, however, denied the report, saying Bloomberg "falsely" claimed that the company is supplying tools to drive game development for a Nintendo Switch with 4K support. "To ensure correct understanding among our investors and customers, we want to clarify that this report is not true," the company said in a tweet. "We also want to restate that, as we announced in July, we have no plans for any new model other than Nintendo Switch - OLED Model, which will launch on October 8, 2021." In addition, a Zynga spokesperson told Kotaku that it does not have a 4K developer kit from Nintendo. "As a Switch developer for the upcoming Star Wars: Hunters game that Zynga announced on a recent Nintendo Direct, we can confirm that none of the developer kits Zynga has or is in receipt of are 4K developer kits," the spokesperson said.
